Sn@tch My…

November 24, 2009

Wallet? Yes.

Ego? Heck yeah!

Heart? Definitely.

I’ve been in Second Life for two years now, and the one business that’s kept my eyes wide, jaw dropped, and wallet going “SPEND MEEE!” has been Sn@tch, and it’s owner Ivey Deschanel. This lady is s-a-s-s-y! Somehow, she manages to put that attribute into every piece of clothing and accessories she makes.

I haven’t updated this blog in a while, true. But, reading one of Ivey’s plurks yesterday got me motivated to throw together an outfit and strut my stuff in my photo area.

'Gutter Reject'

‘Gutter Reject’ is a mix of the outfits GutterGurl and Rodeo Reject, two of my favorites releases from Sn@tch. The GutterGurl jeans are wrecked, ripped, and comes with a ‘decency’ option, or a ‘reveal your butt cheek in all it’s glory’ option. (I prefer the later, hehe.) Topping the outfit is a lacy, racy halter top from Rodeo Reject, showing just a hint of skin while keeping you decent at the same time. Round out the outfit with the Sn@tch Wicked Faith tattoo, Sn@tch Punkable gloves, and the aptly named (and released last holiday season, how time flies!) ‘My Aunt Is a Drunk Whore’ choker… Well. Need I say more?

Ivey, it’s an honor to blog your awesome work. You have a hard edge, but a wicked sense of humor, and I just want to say thank you for doing what you do, and making us all look like saucy little minxes in your items. <3

Mud in my Photobles Honey

October 4, 2009

Ravyn Hynes has always been my top favorite furniture designer ever since I found her works scattered through the wonderful homes of O-Magine Designs. I do believe I own half her store, Mudhoney Designs! Now Ravyn has cast her eye upon the world of bloggers, and I think my heart started singing when I recieved her kind gift and read the enclosed notecard:

Glam Girl is first in my series of Photobles, and I plan on doing many more of them.  I made this with bloggers in mind, to use as backdrops in photos, but they’re very versatile in how they can be used.

Photobles are small *rooms* with furniture and accessories in a theme that can be used for fashion blogging, set design, or even to furnish your home, as the pieces are functional alone without the rest of the setup.  Some of the Photobles, I’ll be adding some modelling poses to, but since they’re made to use as backdrops, they won’t all include them.  So, you can use your own poses as you see fit.

All of them, I’ll be trying to stick to under 150 prims per Photoble, and all of them will come in a rezzer for quick and easy setup.

I squee’d upon setup completion, and immediately changed outfits to hop on for picture taking. (I was wearing my combat kilt, it just wasn’t looking right.)

Mudhoney

The walls are texture change and, as always, the furniture is incredibly detailed and chock full of poses, or feel free to use your own. While not on sale until 10.9.09, Ravyn is planning to make more and I’m sure they’re going to be worth every penny. I know I’ll be adding them to my (cough huge cough) Mudhoney folder in my inventory.

- All mud and honeyed out, Fel Darkstone

Less H8, More Heart

June 14, 2009

“On November 4th, 2008 Proposition 8 passed, amending the state Constitution to ban same-sex marriage.

In the wake of the defeat, there has been a groundswell of initiative from within the community at grassroots level. Seizing this opportunity, new political and protest organizatitions are forming almost daily. The NOH8 Campaign is a photo project & silent protest created by celebrity photographer Adam Bouska and partner Jeff Parshley in direct reponse to the passage of Proposition 8.

The campaign started with portraits of everyday Californians who support Marriage Equality and soon rose to celebrities, military personnel, brothers & sisters, law enforcement, lesbian mothers, directors, politicians, newlyweds, and more, Photos feature subjects with duct tape over their mouths symbolizing their voices not being heard and NOH8 painted on one cheek in protest. “

(from the NO H8 campaign website, www.noh8campaign.com)

As residents of SL and as individual human beings, we have the right to a voice. The NO H8 campaign in SL is a way for us to say “Hey, we want our voices to be heard.” Please pass the word on, and anyone who is interested should contact Trace Osterham for a photo session.

Thank you,
Trace Osterham / Kristen Pick

————————————————————–

Or, you can do the picture yourself. Just wear a white tank top or shirt, any ol’ hair you want, and the No H8 duct tape/cheek sign (which Ryker Beck was sweet enough to make and put in her store for 0L$. Find it here: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Zion/124/78/699)

There is also a Flickr group dedicated to these simple, but beautiful pictures that we SL players are creating. http://www.flickr.com/groups/noh8onsl/

Please, help us stop the H8.

Dare Kitteh, Dare

June 2, 2009

Yesterday was Paint the Grid Purple Day, to show that we DO care about the fight against cancer in RL, and thank you to everyone who wore purple in support! But that was yesterday, and it influenced my look today in a bizarre sort of twist. Anyone who knows anything knows that a notecard from Vasha & Dys of +DV8+ are FULL of awesomeness. *nod nods* They did (and still do) have a purple set of their new Rivet Kitteh boots on sale for 1L, so I trotted down with my curious little self.

When I put those purple kitteh boots on… Well. I found drool on my desk when I was done gawking. And this morning, yet another notecard! The official release of ALL the Rivet Kitteh boots! I squee’d, I tp’d, I bought.

+DV8+ Rivet Kitteh - Black

+DV8+ Rivet Kitteh - Black

These boots have belts, buckles, shininess and some lethal lookin’ claws, which clearly states, “Don’t pet the kitteh.” They’re a touch cyber, which is what V and Dys specialize in, but they’re not so intense that you couldn’t wear them every day.  See why I squee’d at 9 in the morning? Yeah. Me too.

Of course, to match, I had to wear the tail I found in the Urban Dare hunt! Tricky little bugger to find, but so worth the effort. Comes with a ton of options: optional male or female setting, color change symbols on the gun, color change the tail to many different hues, etc. etc. etc. I don’t know if it’s out for purchase yet, but if not, I’m sure it will be soon!

What do 50 vendors (including such names as Sn@tch, !ReToX!, Little Boy Blue, Nightshade Designs, Philotic Energy, The Stringer Mausoleum, Blue Blood, and more!) have in common? Well, aside from creating wicked things we all love and love to buy…

Vendor Support Month!

Now, before you deflate from the thought of “not another hunt!”, wait. This isn’t a hunt.

“We understand not everyone will agree, and we are perfectly fine with that! People have done a lot of work in the past to organize hunts. We are not against them. We just see an issue of too much of one thing not being good, and as we have said before, a balance MUST be made.” – VSM Team

Fifty vendors will set out one quality, unique gift in their stores, priced at L$10, for the entire month of June. It is their hope that people will come to spend time in their stores, maybe flop onto lucky chairs and smack some midnight mania boards, and browse the stores instead of running in, finding a prim with a prize inside, buying it, and tp’ing away faster than you can say ’supercalifragilisticexpialidocius.”

“We wish to focus on the quality of the work, and bring value back into second life, before it diminishes completely. The 10L price for the hunt gifts will go towards helping our creators financially and serve as encouragement, letting them know their work and effort is appreciated.” – VSM Team

You can join the ‘Vendor Support Month’ group to keep up with any notices, and of course the blog is running and updated with all the news. Keep an eye out for possible peeks at the gifts on volunteer blogs, too!

Please help us to keep content creation alive and well in SecondLife, by supporting vendors and giving them hope that their products are loved by us consumers.

OMG, totally squee-age post right now. I was Plurking last night, as I usually do, when I saw a Plurk from Damien Fate, owner of Loco Poco, asking for help from bloggers to do reviews of his newest idea called Poco Pals, cute little animals for human avatars.

How could I resist? I ~AM~ a blogger, after all. Especially when I saw that he was offering a panda, which inspired me to…

PandaPoco

Go panda myself! Aren’t we cute? *squees and cuddles her panda bear*  These Poco Pals are totally customizable, including the ability to change their faces, name them, choose gender, even re-color their fur and choose a little outfit for them! They’re being released to the public at midnight on May 20th (tonight!) and to celebrate, they’re going to be at half price for the first 24 hours! Don’t pass it up!

For more information, check out Damien’s website: Loco Poco

Milestone of any blogger, I would think, is their first official Look Of The Day post. Here’s mine! The hair I’m wearing is by Truth Hawks of >TRUTH<, and it’s a freebie at his mainstore right now! You don’t need to be part of a group to get it, either. All his hairs are amazing, I may go bankrupt there.

Hand me the keys…

May 7, 2009

Listen in everybody gather ’round
The flames are rising but the heat is growing cold
This is life and it’s the strangest thing
Whether we win, we stay ground to where we begin…

- Me Vs. Hero ‘Hand Me The Keys To Massey’

Hand me them keys, I’m ready! For anyone who hasn’t been paying attention in world, our own sweetie Kenzie Corleone has set up a gridwide hunt like no other. (Maybe because some thought was put into this one.)

It goes a little something like this: You find a pre-set up vendor and pay it L$200. Yes, L$200. It may seem like a lot, but it will hopefully keep out all the ungrateful folks who have made past hunts lousy for hunters and sponsers alike by complaining and cheating. You get a folder in return, which contains a notecard for rules and conduct, and your very own VIP pass to the hunt! It’s even resize scripted for convenience.

VIP Pass for the Keys to the VIP Gridwide Hunt

VIP Pass for the Keys to the VIP Gridwide Hunt

Plop that one, because you can’t get any of the keys without it! (Default attach is the chest for all you Restrained Life Viewer users out there.) Then, get to hunting and enjoy the goodies you find along the way.

Notecard included in the VIP Pass folder:

The hunt begins on May 8th.  When you are ready to begin hunting please right click > Wear the VIP Pass.
You MUST be wearing your VIP Pass in order to receive the keys.
While wearing your VIP Pass all you need to do is locate the key and click on it.  It will give you a folder in your inventory with the landmark to the next location.
If you have any questions please feel free to join the Keys to the VIP Hunt Group listed in SL Search OR IM Kenzie Corleone.
Happy Hunting!!

Rules of Conduct:
1. NO REFUNDS. We can not refund your VIP Pass for any reason.  If you have any problems with the VIP Pass itself please contact Kenzie Corleone
2. NO CHEATING. Cheating includes creating a cheat sheet, copying SLURLS into a notecard, teleporting friends directly to the keys, announcing in open chat where the key is located, etc.
3. NO ABUSE OF THE DESIGNERS. The designers have worked very hard to create wonderful items for this hunt. Abuse of the designers will result in banning without refund.
4. If you have a problem with a specific gift item please contact the designer directly. Please be courteous when contacting the designers. Any disrespectful communication with the designers is unacceptable.
5. NO GROUP IM ABUSE. Please keep it positive in group IM.  If you have any complaints please keep it out of group IM and direct it to the proper person. Group IM is there for general discussion regarding the hunt.
5. HAVE FUN!  The purpose of this hunt is to have fun and hunt for high end exclusive items. We have all worked really hard to make this a great hunt and sincerely hope you enjoy it :)

Hope to see some of you folks running around the grid with your passes on! *waves*

Shoes – *G Field* Wood Wedge Sandals (Black)

I’ve found that it’s always a good thing to step outside your own shell and what you usually go with, especially in SecondLife. For me, it’s hair that I usually don’t feel comfortable changing. I prefer my hairs short and black. That’s it. I know, boring right?  Well, after checking out Takuma’s latest blog post, I decided to check out this Uncle Web Studio I’ve been hearing about. I was very pleasantly surprised to find some hairs I like, and I even changed up my style a little bit.

And yes, I pulled out my female shape for this one.  Isn’t she just cute with her little smirk? =p

ilias1

Worn above is the Ilias hair, in Angel Shine. I just love the slight muss of the bangs. Who’d have thought I’d be a cute blond?

burly1

This style goes by the name of Burly and the shade is dry leaf, but don’t let that fool you. This is a very sophisticated hair style, and the color is just beautiful. Definitely not something I’d usually wear, but I do believe this is my new favorite hair!

Each folder comes with two different styles of the hair, and there are at least 1o+ beautiful colors to choose from. Definitely worth a trip, for both ladies and gents as the shorter hairs are unisex.
